Georgia PassGeorgia Pass was used to bring supplies from South Park to the miners in and around Breckenridge. It is a fairly easy pass to travel with a 4WD vehicle. To access the pass from Breckenridge travel south on Hwy 9 toward Frisco. In about 3 miles turn right onto Tiger Road. Look out for an old gold mining dredge boat on the left side about 2.5 miles from the Hwy. At about 6.4 miles from the Hwy turn right on a road that crosses the creek. Take a left just on the other side of the creek. Continue on this road until you come to a Y in the road and take a left. The trail splits a few times but always take the more traveled road. In about 3.5 miles you will pass a Forest Service gate. In about a .10 of a mile you will need to take another left when you come to another Y. The top of Georgia Pass is about 4.8 miles from where you turned off Tiger Road. When at the top of Georgia Pass you will notice a trail to the east called the Glacier Ridge Trail. You can follow this trail back to the Middle fork of the swan. You will encounter beautiful green valleys and old mining cabins. The Glacier Ridge trail includes some long side hill slope sections, which if icy or muddy could be dangerous. Related Mountain Passes Information: |
