Dillon CemeteryEstablished in 1885, this is the only graveyard patented under federal law. During the construction of the Dillon Dam the original cemetery was moved from its previous location to its present dwelling. Buried here are members of the High Line Stage Coach Route, operators of the narrow-gouge railroads, miners, timber men, and sawmill workers. Others such as blacksmiths, tradesmen, hotel keepers, ranchers and county officials are also part of the cemeteries permanent fixtures. Tours of the cemetery are given on Saturdays during the summer months June 21 through August 30. Call for more information (970) 453-9022. |
