Deer Creek/Keystone/Montezuma Leaving from the town of Montezuma are numerous snowmobile rides that will take you to the top of high mountain peaks. With the town’s elevation at 10,400, many of the trails will take you up even higher. One favorite trail among locals is the Deer Creek trail over to Keystone. Higher up along Montezuma Road, ski tourers and snowshoers also frequent the route along Deer Creek to gain access to stunning vistas and fresh powder snow. This route is often quite busy on weekends so be careful and courteous of other people enjoying the outdoors. To get to the Deer Creek trailhead, go through the town of Montezuma and continue for another couple of miles to the plowed parking lot where the road ends in the winter. Directions: At the end of the town of Montezuma head toward Webster Pass and then turn at the Deer Creek sign. Follow the signs to North fork of the Swan River. Take a left at the Swan River and follow the trial to the Middle Fork. This trail will take you back to the top of mountain. Finally turn left and follow the signs to Deer Creek/Montezuma.
