Twin LakesTwin Lakes Located near the foot of Mt. Elbert is the small town of Twin Lakes. In the summer the magnificent scenery and Colorado’s largest glaciated lake intrigue many affluent visitors. Inter Laken hotel is now maintained by the U.S. Forest Service as a National Historic Site. Visitors continue to enjoy fishing and boating on the lakes and strolling through the streets of the Village of Twin Lakes, stopping for a bite to eat or drink, and staying overnight in comfortable accommodations. Twin Lakes, at the base of Independence Pass, are natural, glacier-made lakes, measuring 90' deep, almost 2 miles wide and 6 miles long. You can fish from the shoreline or a boat. Two of Colorado's largest peaks, Elbert and Massive, dominate the view from the city, making it a photographer's Dream. |
