Get pre-approved before you begin negotiatingPre-approval is a look from a lending institution at your creditworthiness. There are two types of letter that you can receive from a lender: 1. A pre-qualified letter states that you have talked with a lender and have given them the most accurate information obtainable regarding your credit. The bank gives you an estimate on how much they think they will lend you based on the honest information you gave them. There is no background check done in regards to your credit, so it is solely based on the information you provided them. At this point you are not obligated to stay with the same lender and there is no charge for this service. 2. A pre-approval involves a more accurate check of your credit history, employment information, assets, and liabilities. This will place your mind at ease when it comes time for you to search for a new home. Many lenders charge for this service, so if you are going to buy a house soon it makes the entire experience much less worrisome and creates more room for negotiating for your dream home. |
