Fishing on the Arkansas Through PuebloThe flow beneath Pueblo Dam is moderate and clear. This section is repeatedly stocked and fishing for 10-17in. Trout is excellent. Buena Vista to Salida In the Spring the water alternates from clear to murky depending on runoff. In murky water fish – larger Pheasant Tails, Copper Johns, and Stoneflies. In clear water fish – Caddis, Blue Wing Olive, and Stonefly nymphs. Leadville to Buena Vista Blue Wing Olive and Stonefly nymphs provide good action especially in the later of the day. Salida to Canon City The Caddies have completed their lifecycle in this stretch of River. The Little River in Salida contributes to some of the clouded water. The Blue Wing Olive and Stonefly Nymphs continue to be very active and are producing good action. With the emergence of Brown Trout Fly from the Redds, Streamers are also becoming effective. |
