Rivers that run off into the ColoradoRivers that run off into the Colorado Ten Mile Canyon – A fast fun rollercoaster ride that will keep you on your toes. This river is much more fun when there is water but if you like hitting rocks the lower section can still be done at low water. Most kayakers put in at Officers Gulch but if you are highly advanced you can put in at the Copper Mountain exit but make sure you portage the bridge right before the put in at Officers Gulch or you will get trapped! This is a great class IV creek with many wave trains, twists and turns. You can scout the entire run on the bike path to Copper Mountain. There are few eddies so this is truly a read and run creek. It is quite difficult to exit so strap in and hang on! Upper and Lower Blue Rivers– These are the spots Summit County locals go to get refreshed and enjoy the play boating below Lake Dillon Dam and Green mountain Reservoir. Due to increased security, the Lower Blue only allows boaters Fri – Sunday. The upper Blue has sporadic CFS flows so if you catch it when it is running and Denver is in the need for water you are in for a treat. |
