Snowmobile South Park – Buckskin Creek Another popular location is called Buckskin Creek located off of Highway 9 in the center of Alma. As you drive through the town across from the Texaco station is Country Road 8 (Buckskin Road). If there is enough snow, park and take this road to Paris Mill. Continue 2.7 miles west to Kite Lake. This is a relatively safe and easy trail in late winter. You may opt to remain on this road to the Sweet Home Mine. Avalanches have occurred between Paris Mill and Kite Lake, but are usually at low danger. The other option is to take Mineral Park Road (County Road 787), travel 3 miles north to Mineral Park. The views on both these trails are phenomenal and much enjoyed. Both trails have minimal avalanche danger and should be ridden back the same way you entered.
